Port Melbourne’s Pop-Up Beach Club Is Back With $49 Bottomless Spritz And Lobster Rolls

Port Melbourne’s Pop-Up Beach Club Is Back With $49 Bottomless Spritz And Lobster Rolls
November 24, 2020

At least for the warmer months, the compromise of al fresco dining, drinking and socialising hardly feels like one at all. Rooftops are reopening, terrace bars are popping up en masse just as beach bars are, too. And now, The Exchange Hotel is bringing back their Beach Club to the sandy shores of Port Melbourne.

Beachgoers can expect a container bar with a full kitchen. The drinks list has been dialled for summer, with several spritz-y cocktails on tap, a grip of seltzers and your usual suspects such as big frosty pints and plenty of wine.

The food offering is equally summery. Get your hands around the likes of Red Coral lobster and prawn roll with four pillars bloody shiraz gin caviar, a wagyu katsu sando, then clear the palate with something sweet—hello Bistro Morgan’s ice-cream doughnut sandwich.

You can’t go wrong with whichever day you visit. $2 oysters on Tuesdays, an aperitivo hour with $6 Aperol Sprits from Monday to Wednesday and a hefty bottomless brunch on Sundays—it entails 90 minutes of endless drinks (including a Passionfruit Caprioska and a classic Aperol Spritz) and a lobster roll for $49. Not bad. Not bad at all.

You’re free to take your chances on a walk-in, but you’d be silly not to book ahead if you’re hoping to nab one of the deck chairs, beachside cabanas, day beds, picnic tables or lounge. The Exchange Beach Club is also pooch-friendly, so don’t forget Fido.

The Exchange Beach Clubs opens on Friday 4 December.
